General Physical Description

***PLEASE NOTE *** A Schnoodle can not be registered with AKC at this time. They are considered a new breed and there is not an "official standard" requirement by AKC as of this date. Some breeders may "create" their own standards as to how a Schnoodle should look A professional breeder will select the parent dogs to compliment one another genetically to produce a Schnoodle with outstanding conformation.

A Miniature Schnoodle is the most popular, being of average build and weight. Not too big, and not too small. It's physical description is :

Weight/Height Range

Height at Withers: approximately 11 in.- 15 in. Weight: 10 pounds to 20 pounds.

Toy Schnoodles and Standard Schnoodles are in quite demand by families who claim that those particular sizes best fits their family's needs. A Toy Schnoodle is 10 inches or under in their height and under 10 pounds in weight. A Standard Schnoodle is 15 inches or more in their height and 20 pounds or more in weight.

Ears and tail

A Schnoodle's ears are left naturally. They may have a longer ear flap that lays closer to it's head and hangs down ( like that of it's Poodle parent) or it may have a shorter ear that stands upright at the base and folds over midway toward the front (like the natural ears of it's Schnauzer parent.) Most breeders dock their Schnoodles tails for hygiene purposes. They are usually docked to the length of a Schnauzer. Some Standard Schnoodles are seen with their tail left naturally long. This is left entirely up to the breeder to do this. A family can consult with their breeder on which they would prefer their puppy to have.

Coat

A "true" Schnoodle will have a great combination of both parents which would be long, thick and wavy. Their coats can come in many colors such as black, white, apricot, chocolate, black w/ white markings, wheaten, sable, "Parti" (white with large patches of color) and also several shades of "Phantoms" ( darker body coloring with lighter legs and markings such as those of the Doberman breed.)

Shedding

Schnoodles are non-shedding. They are also hypo-allergenic and are a great pet for people who suffer from allergies.
